Hershey, Pennsylvania (Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate)

A really cool place to visit for couples, singles, girlfriends' getaway, and families is Hershey, Pennsylvania. It's fun and education-oriented. Also, the town of Hershey really smells like chocolate. The street lights are shaped like silver bells, too!

Flight: I flew into Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (the capital of Pennsylvania) and took a cab to Hershey.

Lodging: There are many hotel options in Hershey (e.g., Hilton Garden Inn, Wyndam, Sheraton). I have stayed at the Wyndham, Sheraton, and Hilton Garden Inn in Hershey.  However, my favorite hotel is The Hershey Lodge. When you check in, you get free bars of FRESH Hershey chocolate bars. At some point, Hershey candy characters will come out to the lobby and visit you. I took a picture with the York Peppermint Patty. The lodge reminds me of a ski lodge. The restaurant has delicious food, economically priced, and has a great staff.

Some educational aspects are that you get to learn about the history of Hershey's chocolate including information about Mr. Milton Hershey (narrated tour with characters that get on/off the trolley), and you can take a tour of the Chocolate Museum. The Hershey Lodge shuttle will take you to/from the Chocolate Museum. At the museum you can taste hot chocolate and chocolate coffee, too.

The fun part is Chocolate World (amusement park with lots of rides) and tasting chocolate. There are chocolate milkshakes and FRESH Hershey brand candies.

Upscale Lodging: The Hotel Hershey--Beautiful hotel and spa!. At the spa, you can have a chocolate facial, chocolate massage, and more services that use chocolate. I plan to stay at Hotel Hershey on my next visit. This is a great hotel for couples and a girlfriends' getaway.

You can see my photos of Hershey trip on my website: http://www.sdestinationstravel.com/, scroll down to "My Trips" and locate Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Stay tuned for my next blog...

New Year's Eve for Singles

If you are single this New Year's Eve...it's okay. Embrace and pamper yourself. Don't feel "down' about being alone. Here are some things that you can do:
  • book a hotel package for yourself, get a good book, TWO bottles of wine, and EXHALE
  • treat yourself to a spa on New Year's Day
  • write down all the destinations that you'd like to visit and call ME (to book your travel)
  • cook your favorite meal
  • travel to another city and spend New Year's Eve there, explore that city, shop
  • spend New Year's Eve at a vineyard, try a new type of food
Jutt relax, exhale, and embrace how wonderful person that you are and how proud you feel to have made it through 2010. Say, "2011 here I come!"
